Audit

This committee is great for detail-oriented individuals with a passion for transparency, accountability, and integrity. Involves an average time commitment of 2-3 hours per year.

Communications

Term: 3 years
Communications Chair Description

Committee Description: The Communications Committee is a dynamic and strategic team dedicated to enhancing our external and internal communication efforts. Comprising of member messages, social media management (LinkedIn), and conference branding. They support all conference communications, drafting, and publishing targeted messages. This committee is great for passionate and creative individuals. This committee involves an average time commitment of 1-2 hours per week from January to May, increasing to 3-4 hours in June, July, August, September, October, and November.

Corporate Relations

Term: 3 years
Corporate Relations Chair Description

Committee Description: The Corporate Relations Committee is responsible for cultivating relationships with companies, registering them as conference vendors, and fostering mutually beneficial collaborations. This committee is great for outgoing individuals with a passion for relationship building. This committee involves an average time commitment of 2 hours per week, primarily from May through November.

Diversity Equity & Inclusion

Term: 3 years
DEI Chair Description

Committee Description: The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee is a dedicated group within UMACRAO committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse environment. This committee plays a pivotal role in promoting a culture of belonging, celebrating differences, and ensuring that every individual is valued, respected, and empowered. This committee is great for individuals with a passion for learning more about DEI work, and embracing diversity in all its forms. This committee involves an average time commitment of 1-2 hours per week, with higher time commitments in January, February, March, September, and October.

Government Relations

Term: 2 years
Government Relations Chair Description

Committee Description: The Government Relations Committee provides information on higher education policies. They support the Government Relations Chair's initiatives and collaborate with the Communications Committee to include advocacy objectives in email campaigns. This committee is great for individuals dedicated to advocacy and higher education policy. This committee involves an average time commitment 1-2 hours per week, with more time in April, May, and June.

Local Arrangements

Term: 1 year
Local Arrangements Chair Description

Committee Description: The Local Arrangements Committee is the heartbeat of our UMACRAO’s annual conference, ensuring seamless logistics, warm hospitality, and an enriching experience for attendees. The committee is great for detail-oriented individuals dedicated to fostering a memorable and enjoyable experience. This committee involves an average time commitment of 2-3 hours per week, with higher time commitments in September and October.

Membership Chair Description

Committee Description: The Membership Committee is the driving force behind our UMACRAO's growth and community engagement. This committee is great for enthusiastic individuals, passionate about attracting, retaining, and engaging our members. The committee averages 0.5 hours per week, with increased commitments from May to October.

Philanthropy

Term: 3 years

Committee Description: The Philanthropy Committee embodies the spirit of giving within our organization, driving efforts to secure funding, donations, and support for community organizations. This committee is great for individuals passionate about heartfelt engagement and community serviceThis committee involves an average time commitment of less than 1 hour per week, with increased demands in September and October.

Professional Development 

Term: 3 years
Professional Development Chair Description

Committee Description: The Professional Development Committee coordinates opportunities for members to enhance their professional growth.  The goal is to provide strategies and resources that promote continuous learning and best practices rooted in AACRAO’s professional proficiencies and core competencies. Committee members will plan UMACRAO conversations. This position involves an average time commitment of 2 hours per month per year.

Program

Term: 1 year
Program Chair Description

Committee Description: The Program Committee is at the heart of UMACRAO’s mission, responsible for designing, planning, and implementing innovative programming. This committee is great for individuals who are creative thinkers, and dedicated organizers. The average time commitment for this position varies, with increased demands in June, August, September, and October.

Site Selection Chair

Term: 3 years
Site Selection Chair Description

Chair Description: The Site Selection Chair selects the next conference venue, focusing on cost-effectiveness and attendee experience. Prior experience in LAC and Program committees is preferred. Skills involve researching and comparing locations, and event planning expertise is helpful. This position involves an average time commitment of 10 hours per week in August, September, and October, mainly for planning meetings.

Technology

Term: 3 years
Technology Chair Description

Committee Description: The Technology Committee is the backbone of our organization’s digital presence and innovation. This committee is great for tech-savvy individuals and creative problem solvers. The average time commitment is 1-2 hours weekly, with higher demands in July, August, September, and October.

Executive Committee

President

Term: 1 year

Description: The President represents UMACRAO at AACRAO's annual meeting and guides the UMACRAO Executive Committee, making decisions aligned with UMACRAO bylaws. They lead crucial initiatives like the annual conference and act as a liaison to state and national associations. This role requires 2 to 5 hours weekly, mainly from January to October.

President-Elect

Term: 1 year

Description: The President-Elect provides support to the President and Executive Committee while preparing for the upcoming year. As a member of the Executive Committee, this role involves considering the viewpoints of the membership, providing diverse perspectives for issue resolution, and supporting the President. This position involves an average time commitment of 2 to 3 hours per week, primarily in July, August, September, and October.

Past President

Term: 1 year

Description: The Past President plays a crucial role in supporting and mentoring the President and Executive Committee. Responsibilities include overseeing awards and President-Elect nominations. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to seek guidance when needed while demonstrating initiative in executing duties. This position involves an average time commitment of approximately 2 hours per week, primarily in September and October.

Treasurer

Term: 3 years

Description: The Treasurer manages UMACRAO's financial accounts. Key responsibilities include financial oversight and management. Skills required include effective communication, strong organizational abilities, and teamwork. This role involves an average time commitment of 2 hours per week, particularly during July, August, September, October, and November.

Secretary

Term: 2 years

Description: The Secretary is responsible for managing records, handling correspondence, and supporting meetings. They maintain accurate records, ensure transparent communication, and facilitate efficient governance processes, contributing to UMACRAO's goals of transparency, compliance, and effective internal communication.This position involves an average time commitment of 3 hours per week, primarily in July, August, September, October, and November.

Special Recognition Committee

Term: 1 year

Description: The Special Recognition Committee is responsible for nominating candidates for Honorary Life Member, Exemplary Service Awards, and Tina Falkner Inspiration Award to the Executive Committee. Chaired by the Past President, this committee evaluates potential recipients and recommends selections based on outstanding contributions.
